It was a balmy 35 degrees in Maine this Saturday! It was like a heat wave! In case you haven't heard, our temps have been in the single and negative digits, factor in the wind chill and we were running as low as -18!
This afternoon my husband and I ran a few errands and our our way back to the cottage we stopped at a few of our favorite spots. I hope you enjoy these beautiful Maine winter moments.
The Pier at Old Orchard Beach, Old Orchard Beach, ME |
The amusement park at Old Orchard Beach, Old Orchard Beach, ME - it will be busier in July |
In the summer you can hear screams of excitement, laughter, bells, whistles and sirens from children, adults, amusements and games - today it was the sound of large waves crashing on the surf.
The Saco River, Saco, Maine |
The breakwater at Camp Ellis, Saco, Maine |
It's amazing how much beauty we found in these winter moments. . I hope you enjoyed our brief escape!
That looks cold, but beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteI have a similar comment as above - looks beautiful, but cold.

I love visiting these places in winter when you can have them all to yourself.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics especially the ice along the breakwater. This has been a very long and cold winter. I'm counting down for spring
ReplyDelete(Trying again...your blog isn't updating for me and my computer is skitzy.)
ReplyDeleteIt is quite interesting to see these sights in winter as, trust me, we do not go looking for them, though we are not so far away. It looks mighty cold. Surely, there's an extra chill in the wind off the water.
Stay cozy down there!
This was a lovely Sunday walk for me, Mary, thank you!
ReplyDeletevery pretty we have been cold for sure. It always looks so lonely in the winter it will be good to have the people back again.

ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful pictures! I love the coastline any time of year!!

Breathtaking. We no longer live close to a coastline but the western NC mountains have a beauty that we are truly enjoying, and we have SNOW. The -3 degree morning last week - not so enjoyable, but it's winter. Can spring be far behind?

The beach looks incredibly cold...very different from the one I went to this week. Lovely winter photos though. They would be beautiful to have printed and framed. Enjoy your afternoon my friend! Stay warm with the next blast of cold! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteIt looks much colder than 35 … thanks for sharing your outing!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photographs! I like the change of season.. everything takes on a completely different look. The ice on the water is stunning.
ReplyDeleteBrrrr! I'm due to go to the beach this week for a little walk .... it'll be odd to be all bundled up at the seaside! Thoughts of warm August days are haunting me! As usual, your photos are beautiful! Stay warm and toasty!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so different this time of year, doesn't it? I've been taking pics like this also.. you have to find the beauty in the cold beast, you know? :-)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics!

just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat pic of the pier! It was -15 degrees here this morning so 35 would be balmy for sure. I'm sure the pier and all look perfect in the summer, meaning warm!
