Our new front door . . . Welcome, please come in!

Hubby and I have been talking about getting a new front door since we moved into our home some 15 years ago!  We finally ordered one last evening!  We decided to take advantage of the tax credit and improve our energy with a new door.  Truthfully, on a windy day I could probably blow-dry my hair from the draft that comes from that door!  So, what do you think about my new door?  I really love it!

This is what the glass looks like up close and personal - what do you think?  I fell in love with it! I also liked the privacy rating on this glass, it was a 9 out of 10!

Next we'll order the lock set, we have some time, the door will take two weeks to arrive.  I think we'll order a brushed nickel or pewter, what do you think?  I'm so excited about my new holiday home improvement!

  1. I like the flowery pattern! My front door is as old as the house itself - from 1953, good solid wood with "milky" glass panels in between. No chance to blow-dry my hair with it :-)

  2. This will be a beautiful addition to the front of a house. I agree with the brushed pewter. We have that in our home on all the doors and I really like it.

  3. So pretty you will get light and privacy. How funny it makes us happy to buy a door.I know I am happy about the new light in the kitchen. Thank you for your visit and comment. I really like those little house too.

  4. Hope to see a photo of your door after it is installed. Love the design of the glass insert! Don't forget to order hinges in the same finish as the lockset.
We replaced our entry door and sidelight a few years ago and wow- did it make a difference in the appearance of the house! The original owner had opted for a plain slab door- ICK. We found a company in northern Ohio that is family owned and makes a very good product. Since we get direct sun almost all day, it made no sense to order a wood door. We bought a metal door with a 3/4 oval camed glass insert. It is so pretty. Even opted for a factory painted finish so I wouldn't see brush strokes when painted. It set us back $4000, but was well worth it. :-) Sue

  5. I think the glass window is wonderful. Almost crystal like.

Your line 'on a windy day I could probably blow-dry my hair from the draft that comes from that door!' just made me chuckle to myself.

  9. Beautiful! Loved it. If it were mine, I'd put in a big brass handle and knocker. But it's yours, so pewter or nickel will be great, too. Congratulations. I wish you a peaceful Sunday.

  10. A new door can make such a difference in the entrance of the house. Yours is really pretty. I love the glass. Nice!!!

Now, you will have to buy a bow dryer to dry your hair (smile)

P.S. you asked me where I purchased the bowl from that was used to present the cauliflower soup...TJ Maxx.

  11. lovely door... always liked glass front doors as they let in the light and make the hallway (which is usually small in most homes) light and airy... we don't have a front door, just the one door to the back of the house directly into the kitchen and it's totally glass, so i'm biased anyway!

  13. Love the new door! I need one as well..but the man keeps complaining about the price tag..due to the house being 120 years old.. it has to be custom fit.. so I am green with envy.... I am thinking perhaps the brushed nickel..

  14. That is one beautiful door. I love the flowery design on the glass. It looks like it will let in a great deal of light, but you won't have people staring in your windows.
