Here's Susan's home made Taco Seasoning Mix!! The best part, there's no salt, and you don't need any! This is a great way to add rich and bold flavor without adding salt, especially if you need to watch your salt intake. The beautifully blended flavors in this recipe will help you on your journey to become one of the biggest losers too! Oh, in case you're wondering, it smells amazing also!
This week, I added some to my Deviled Eggs, that I made for a work party to kick the recipe up a notch! So, be creative and enjoy!
Ingredients:
4 tbsp. chili powder
3 tbsp. paprika ( Susan uses smoked paprika )
3 tbsp. cumin
2 tbsp., plus 2 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
Add all the ingredients to a bowl, mix and store in an air-tight container!
I love how rich & beautiful the colors look next to each other |
Mix it up in a bowl, isn't it pretty! |
Store it in a small 8 oz. jar. |
Easy to spoon out and use! |
Aww, look who's relaxing after a hard afternoon of playing!

Looks like something is missing after the cumin? Otherwise, great idea.

DeleteHoney, I am the QUEEN of leaving words out and not noticing! I usually make my hubby check it over!! :-)
DeleteI wish I had seen this the other day when I needed a teaspoon of taco seasonings in a sauce. I refuse to buy the package stuff and just made up a mixture to use. Love the smoked paprika too. So much flavor in smoked paprika.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend Mary. It’s nice to be able to get out and visit old friends again.

ReplyDeleteMary, I love that this recipe doesn't include salt. Excellent! I'm going to make some up, and now, thanks to Pinterest, I know that a Parmesan lid will fit on a canning jar and I've been waiting for something special to put in the jar. This is it!

Now I have a good use for the 18 eggs I gathered from my "Ladies" this morning. We love deviled eggs around here, and this taco seasoning seems like a zesty way to spice em up! Thank you for visiting us in the Hollow. Maine is one of the few states I have never been and it has intrigued me.
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki. Good to 'see' you today!! This is a good recipe to have. I always wanted to know what was in a Taco mix! Thanks for this.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. Love your photo pf Duke, looks like he is having a relaxing day!
ReplyDeleteFABULOUS idea and recipe and such a LOVELY photo of Duke too! Karen
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love the flavor that smoked paprika adds to dishes. Making your own seasoning is the way to go...especially as you can make it as spicy as you like.
ReplyDeleteTFS! Nice pictures of the bday party. Neat cake
