Yes, this is a stray from my usual type of posts, and I hope you enjoy it, it really was a lovely outing!
My husband and I went to the 17th Annual Old Orchard Beach Car Show and Parade this past September 17 – 18th in Maine. There were hundreds of classic and antique automobiles parading through this beautiful beach town. We had a blast! The Car Show weekend has become a favorite for car fans of all ages, and types! It was a gorgeous weekend, and Old Orchard Beach was the perfect spot for the show.
The cars were lined up and down Old Orchard Street right down to the world famous Pier! Then promptly at 7:30 they started up the engines for the "cruise" along East and West Grand Avenue! It was a walk through time! OOB as it's know was quite the place in the 50's, so naturally it was the perfect location for this fun event! On Saturday from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. the cars were displayed through Veteran's park, there was music, food, and all sorts of vendor's! We spent several hours viewing the cars! My favorites were the ones from the 50's, my husband's were the Chevy SS, and of course, the Corvette photo's are for Steve!

ReplyDeletewow I love this post, it's always good to stray from the norm every now and then, great photos too... by the way, juts want you to know that our dog Holly has exactly the same bed as Duke x
ReplyDeleteMy Mother's 1st car was a turquoise & white 56 Chevy. I love seeing old cars.
ReplyDeleteCar shows are so much fun! Used to go to so many when I lived in Michigan. Not too many in Florida though.
ReplyDeleteThese lovely cars remind me of my youth. My first car was a powder blue 65 Mustang and my next car was a souped up 69 Malibu. Later I had a maroon Chevy that was as fast as the wind.
ReplyDeleteNow my husband has a 59 MGA that we like to drive on the windy mountain road. It's a lot of fun, but it's very low to the ground and as you get older, it isn't so easy to get in and out of.
Thanks for including the car show. Fun stuff.
Sam

ReplyDeleteI love to go to a Show and Shine every once in a while myself. There's so much work, money, time and love tied up in those vehicles!
ReplyDeleteOh what fun! I want a Barbie's Dream Corvette too!!

ReplyDeletethere's a sur la table store right down the street from me ...
let's go shopping
What a fun show… Certainly does bring you back to the salad days… We are having a vintage car show this weekend and it is something I always look forward to… My brother-in-law refurbished a vintage car and, by the time he finished, it cost him almost 3 times as much as the original car would have cost… But, it was worth it… Kept him off the streets and his wife always knew where he was… Come visit when you can.
ReplyDeleteI love car shows! I have been so busy I haven't been able to visit your blog very often since I signed up to follow it. Things are slowing down a bit, so I plan to visit more often!
ReplyDeleteHi, nice to meet you and your blog.

Car shows are great and your photos are excellent. Reminds me of mom and dad's blue and white '56 Chevy Bel Air. Cool cars!
ReplyDeleteI love the colours of these cars - your right it would make a great colour for a lipstick! Im really enjoying reading your blog. We have friends in Wolfboro and your pictures have got us longing for a stateside visit! thanks for sharing:)
ReplyDeleteWould you look at those dream cars! =D From that blue Cadillac to my all-time favorite ride: the Chevelle SS. Seeing Vin Diesel drive that Chevy in the movie (The Fast and the Furious) made me gawk – not at him ;p – at that muscle car.
