Appreciation . . .

Did you know it was "Teacher Appreciation Week" this week?  It runs from May 8th through the 11th.  As a teacher, I can tell you we love receiving notes and hearing from parents. This week I was fortunate to receive a couple nice notes from parents.

Our PTO put on a lovely and delicious luncheon for us last Friday!  Today our principal gave us a beautiful plant and useful gifts - all unexpected, and all appreciated!

If you appreciate a teacher, your former, or your childs, please take a moment to acknowledge him/her by writing a note to him/her - you won't believe how much she'll appreciate it.

“The highest result of education is tolerance.” ~ Helen Keller

Student/Teacher Jokes!  Enjoy!!
IDIOTS (Teacher appreciation jokes)
"If there are any idiots in the room, will they please stand up" said the sarcastic teacher. After a long silence, one freshman rose to his feet. "Now then mister, why do you consider yourself an idiot?" enquired the teacher with a sneer. "Well, actually I don't," said the student, "but I hate to see you standing up there all by yourself."

  7. This made me think of Miss Hanlon, my fifth grade teacher.
She enriched my life by believing in me and her knack for encouragment. She helpled me overcome my speaking in public fear too. Halfway through reciting a poem in front of class, I began to quiver, but looked over to her and she gave me a little nod and I collected myself and was able to finish without flubbing up the poem. I would say to her
Thank you, Miss Hanlon, I still carry you in my heart.
    xx

  10. It’s funny but once I had been away to university and working several years, I moved back to be closer to my parents and one evening when socialising with colleague from work the conversation turned to where we had gone to school as young children. I mentioned the school I had attended and one of my colleague remarked she had taught there. As we checked years it suddenly occurred to us both that she had been my class teacher for a year when I was aged 7! And she had remembered me...I had generally been a very good little girl apparently with school work but I had a tendency to be very naughty at times!!

  12. Loved that joke! I had a few doozies as far as teachers went and I think when I was a kid a few shuddered to get me in their class, I was the class clown :) but my favorites far outweighed those few. My kids are in college but I am still in touch with some of my kid's elementary teachers, they were really outstanding and left an indelible mark on my kids.
Enjoy your special and much deserved week!

  16. I come from a long line of educators on both sides of my family and I can assure you when I did not choose to major in education, it was not a good day at my house. Talk about being the black sheep.

Thank you for being a wonderful teacher Mary. I know your students and their parents appreciate the hard work and dedication it takes. It's funny. I still hear from students who remember my mother and her influence on their lives (and she's been gone twenty eight years).

  17. Hurray for teachers that care enough to stay the course against hard times, tough communities and committees, and the constant mandates that rarely take into consideration everything else educators must deal with! Hurray for teachers that love children and do what they do because they believe in bringing the best out in every child that comes through their classrooom door! Keep it up!
