Ready to make liquid velvet! |
Not just any coffee, but Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee! Have you ever felt velvet? So you know it's smooth and delightful. Drinking JBM coffee is like drinking liquid velvet. It is so smooth it's unbelievable. It is not bitter, and does not have any aftertaste.
Mind you, this coffee delicacy does not come cheap. It's a rare treat, and we haven't had any in 17+ years! I remember the first time I coveted a cup of this coffee was at my friend Susan's home @ From Beyond My Kitchen Window when she was a bride just 25 years ago.
Ready for brewing in my 27 year old Mr. Coffee, coffee maker! |
Rewind to 1993. When we got married, we took a cruise for our honeymoon. One of our stops was Jamaica. We were on a tour of a plantation and our guide was discussing the beautiful blue mountains in front of us, then casually mentioned coffee, and I slowly put 2 + 2 together! I'm in Jamaica, those are the Blue Mountains, that's the coffee that Susan buys!!! What a eureka moment! So I bought a pound and brought it home, that was 17+ years ago!
JBM in a cup from my hubby's favorite aunt. |
Add a little cream and we're ready to drink! |
Would you like a cup? I'm only sharing with friends!
It sounds good. I'm always trying different coffees. Enjoy your JBM.
ReplyDeleteI had some starbucks coffe at my son's house one day and it was so good.. I usually don't like starbucks coffee because it's so strong.. This is a medium coffe called ~Guatemala Antiqua. Suble cocoa, soft spice. I love the smell of this coffee and it's so good. I can't go back to the regular coffee :( NO way~!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed day,,ta ta from Iowa:)
Hello Mary:
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing to beat a delicious cup of coffee. As this 'cup of velvet' transports you all the way to the blue mountains of Jamaica, it seems to us to be very good value!!Perhaps economies can be made elsewhere?!!
Sounds delicious. I love a good cup of coffee but it is not easy to come by here on our island of tea drinkers.
ReplyDeleteI have found a local company that roasts their own though and am pretty happy with it! Enjoy your brew!
As you probably know I love espresso, but I 'm curious to taste this kind of coffee...I missed you...hugs, Flavia
ReplyDeleteCoffee is the staff of life as far as I'm concerned. I've never tried this before, but from your description it seems that I must. I hope I can locate some.
ReplyDeleteMary, It even looks like rich velvet. There is nothing better than sitting quietly and enjoying you favorite coffee. Have a terrific weekend. Bonnie
ReplyDeleteMY favourite coffee ~it is VERY popular in the UK.
ReplyDeleteKaren
For me, coffee has to be sweet, black and strong - so I guess the Jamaican Blue Mountain kind would really be right up my road :-) Why spoil it with cream when it is so velvety?
ReplyDeleteI'm so crazy for this coffee, I hope you serve it with dessert. I'd love a couple of cups tomorrow evening after our OOB dinner. Unfortunately, children's sneakers, sports equipment, haircuts, orthodontic bills, prom dresses, cars, and college put a nix in my JBM purchases. LOL!!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, a lovely cup. We occasionally treat ourselves to Jamaican Blue Mountain. We've also enjoyed Peaberry from Hawaii--well, we did before it went to $35 a pound!! Nothing better than a good cup of real coffee to start the day and, sometimes, to end the day.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Uh oh Mary, they do have this at the local coffee place in town, and I never new how exotic and desirable it was! I'll try some and let you know the verdict.......

There's nothing like a great cup o' joe.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I am going to admit I have never had a cup of JOE, however, this post actually temps me to give it a try! Hope you are enjoying what is left of summer, I for one cannot wait for New England's Fall splendor. Blessings, Julie.

ReplyDeleteOkay... I'm going to be a total twit and ask ... Is it fair trade? I've been trying really hard to go that route after my daughter came back from a jaunt through Central and South America and talked about the corporate coffee fields vs the small farmers' operations and their little cooperatives ...
ReplyDeleteWe stayed in Jamica for 10 days and had that coffee each morning. I remember it well and brought some home. but like you I do not think I have had any for 25 years.
ReplyDeleteCathy
I love coffee but just in the morning - that's the only time I drink it, and it has to be special. I'd love to try Jamaican Blue after hearing 'velvet' :)
ReplyDeleteUh Oh. I want some right NOW. I wonder if they sell that in the supermarket. I'll have to look. Susan
ReplyDeleteoh pleeeeease can i have some??? and some good ol fashioned coffee cream (not available here in the uk)...
ReplyDeleteI think I've seen Blue Mountain coffee in my supermarket....and remember it being pricey...but maybe I'll have to treat myself when I'm finished the bag I'm on now :)
Lovely way to start the day, but now for me. Coffee does not agree with me. Green tea is my drink of choice.
ReplyDeleteRita
ooh, now you have my salivating for a cup of that coffee!! Gotta go look it up.
ReplyDeletelove your header!
We are coffee drinkers in our house and have run the gamut of coffees. I am so partial to strong coffee so usually buy French roast. We have had Jamaican and really liked it...but oh so expensive. It is a great treat!
ReplyDeleteI would love a cuppa.
ReplyDeleteLife is too short for bad coffee. JBM is wonderful. You have fantastic taste! I'll be over shortly for a cup... :)
ReplyDeleteI can almost smell it from here!
ReplyDeleteI would love to taste this! My hubby grinds the coffee beans for a fresh brewed flavor! We love good coffee! I'll write this down in case we ever see any for sale...or on sale! ♥
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, one of my favorite coffees; it's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh yes please I would love to try some! Have never tried this coffee, it does sound wonderful.I shall have to look out for it over here.

How funny! I had JBM coffee for the first time on MY honeymoon to Jamaica in 1991! I've only had it a few times since, because as you say, it's so expensive!!!!
ReplyDeleteOoo, yes please. I's love a cup!
ReplyDeleteI am a coffee addict yet I
ReplyDeletehave never tried Jamaican Blue Mountain. Will have to try a cup at my local coffeehouse.
I've never had Jamaican coffee, but it sounds delicious! Hawaiian coffee is pretty good too, if I do say so myself.
