This evening we are having a birthday party for my mom, she'll be 76! After the year she's had we are thrilled to celebrate this birthday with her. Along with my three pushy sisters, my three brothers our spouses or insignificant others, nieces, nephews, boyfriends, girlfriends and great grand-son it should be a fun time, provided my pushy sisters behave themselves! LOL!!
I'll be making deviled eggs, they are a huge family favorite, I'm told that no one makes a deviled egg as good as me . . . personally I think they think it's a lot of work, it's not, and I actually enjoy making them. I hope you enjoy them as much as my family does!
Mary's Super Delicious Deviled Eggs
Ingredients
12 Eggs
1/4+ cup Hellmanns mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1/4 cup relish
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
1 teaspoon hot sauce (I use Franks)
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Paprika
Directions
1. Cook and peel the eggs while warm, slice in half and scoop out the yolks.
2. Set the white egg half's on a paper towel to absorb any extra moisture.
3. Put the yolks in a separate bowl and mash, I use a pastry cutter to mash the yolks.
4. Add the mayo, mustards, relish, hot sauce, salt and pepper mix.
5. Refrigerate mix for 15 minutes.
I love deviled eggs and there is as many ways to make them as there is meatloaf. I use basicly the same things except hot sauce. no one likes it except me.
ReplyDeletehave fun at the party.
Cathy
I can see why you were assigned deviled eggs. Those look fantastic! Sounds like you're going to have a fun time tonight. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteYour recipe looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm an only child so I'll take those "pushy" sisters. (o:
Hugs
My kids love deviled eggs. Cute joke:)
ReplyDeleteI love deviled eggs too! My Mom always sprinkled extra paprika right on top of them.
ReplyDeleteLove deviled eggs...and....I just got a glimpse of pushy sister #3's dog. Hugs to the pup!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your precious mother!! And, for a New Englander, you know how to make deviled eggs southern style!! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Hahaha! Cute joke! BUT... those eggs look so good that I don't think the nephews, nieces, and in-laws will be laughing if you didn't make more than a couple dozen of theose beauties! Oh, and by the way, high five on specifying 'Hellmans' ... the all-time best mayo ever!
ReplyDeleteI love deviled eggs and yours look delicious. The addition of a little hot sauce makes them a little spicy. Spicy is right up my alley. Have fun at your mothers birthday party.
ReplyDeleteBirthday blessings to your mom. That is my deviled egg recipe too. I had to make 12 dozen for a work party. The shell peeling about did me in.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your Mom!! I hope you all, including your pushy sisters, have a great time! ;)
ReplyDeleteBest,
Glori
I loved reading this post. It was so free flowing and has that great (if totally corny) punchline. I also adore devilled eggs but have never made them! Your recipe is so simple and I'm digging the plastic bag piping technique. Nice!
ReplyDeleteOh and can we discuss... 6 siblings!!!???!!??!?
ReplyDeleteMy family loves deviled eggs too...and you put a few more ingredients in there than I do.. I am going to give your recipe a whirl.. and I love the bagged filling idea, why didn't I think of that!!!
ReplyDeleteMy grandma (mum's mother) wasn't a particularly good cook (unlike my mum!), but there was one thing she was really good at: making such eggs! We didn't call them devilled egss, just "filled eggs", and they were a firm favourite every time there was a birthday or other family gathering at her house.
ReplyDeleteMy mum makes them, too, but because she has such a huge range of other things she can make, the devilled eggs do not feature on our table as often as when grandma was still alive.
Ciao We use to make this recipe for Easter, so delicious! Have a nice week end! LOL
ReplyDeleteI love deviled eggs! I love the plate you have them on too. I think I have the same one and it belonged to my grandmother.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful party!
Carol

ReplyDeleteDeviled eggs are still a favorite...everyone eats them first at a party. I like your touch of heat in the recipe!
Hi Mary! I have to confess that eggs are one of my all time most hated foods...but, strangely, I still enjoyed this post hugely! And I wish your Mom a wonderful birthday and many more to come! Happy Sunday xoxo
ReplyDeleteI must try serving some eggs like this, they sound delish! I too have 3 sisters however I think it's them who would describe me as the 'pushy' one! I generally organise any family get togethers and then hand out the jobs!!
ReplyDeleteGroan to the joke - LOL!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had deviled eggs since last Easter, I think! Your recipe sounds wonderful and I'm going to try them. Love the addition of the relish and hot sauce!
I love deviled eggs! I make mine with half mayo and half Miracle Whip. I'll have to try the hot sauce in them. Now I have to go see if I have eggs in the fridge!
ReplyDeleteI could sit and eat deviled eggs one right after another! Yum! I'll be adding some hot sauce next time. I'm a big fan of the Tapatio brand. :-) Sue
