  2. This morning our local grocery store, HY-VEE served over 700 veterans breakfast. The boy scouts served them and took the trays away for these fine men and women. I stood and shook every hand and told them thanks so much for serving. Without these men and women we would not have the freedom we have here in America. Some of the old men had tears in their eyes.. IT was so special..

Have a great day and ta ta for now from Iowa:)

  4. Like you, I feel great pride in my family who served in the military. I had the pleasure of working for the Air Force as a civilian. They are (all services) a special breed and I am grateful.

    Best,
    Bonnie

  8. Those pictures are priceless, and so are our veterans. They ask so little, but our gratitude means so much to them.

  9. Amen to that! My Dad was an Ensign in the US Naval Air Corps during WWII ... my elder brother a Medic in the US Navy during Viet Nam attached to Marine ground forces ... my grandfathers both served in the US Army during WWI. Oh, the stories they tell ... God bless them all and all their comrades!

  11. I have just read a book called On Canaan's Side by Sebastian Barry (I am a big fan of his work) it dealt beautifully with the subject of loved one going off to war - well worth a read.

    Beautiful post.
