We've been very fortunate to have the most beautiful summer in New England. I can't even remember when it rained last - until now. For the past few days we've had a "Summer N'or Easter," (thankfully it's not snow!) and it's been lovely. It's been so relaxing to sleep at night with the sound of the rain, it's like a glass of wine!
Below are some photos of one of my favorite spots, Pine Point, it's in Scarborough, Maine.
They remind me of a poem;
"Sandpiper"
by
Celia Thaxter. .
Across the lonely beach we flit, One little sandpiper and I, And fast I gather, bit by bit,
|
The scattered drift-wood, bleached and dry. The wild waves reach their hands for it,
|
The wild wind raves, the tide runs high, As up and down the beach we flit, One little sandpiper and I. |
We've got rain here too, beautiful pics and poem.

Hi Kara,
ReplyDeleteDuke is a Cockapoo, he looks like a poodle, he's 20 lbs of terror!!! LOL!!! We love him! Your Teddy is beautiful, sorry for your loss, losing a pet is awful, I've had several friends loose their dogs in the past year - so sad. I'm sure Buddy had a great life with you!
I'm trying not to be jealous of your peaceful beach life and two homes...how fun :)! I know it is a lot of responsibility though...has to be.
ReplyDeleteSome rain would be a very welcome sight in Ky/Tn today!!
I'm so glad to meet you! The poem and photos are excellent and lucky you for living by the sea! I've been over most of the U.S. but have never made it to Maine and see that it is a must do!
ReplyDeleteThat jar below that you keep your teabags in stopped me in my tracks. Mom had a jar identical to that many years ago and used it forever as a cookie jar. Very pretty! Love your wicker furniture. I'm not only a cookbook addict, but antiques also!
That is one creative sand castle on the side bar. I love your blog and will be looking around. Thanks for visiting mine so that I could find you!!!
just saw your comment about Duke and Buddy and Teddy
ReplyDeletethank you
The pics are just beautiful and so is the poem. You have a lovely blog. I will be visiting! Thanks for checking my blog out as well.
ReplyDeleteSmiles,
Angela
