Mitt & Walmart
Today I met the nicest man in the Walmart parking lot in Scarborough, ME! His name is Mitt and he was 89 1/2+ years old! He was enchanting! He was sharp as a tack, and he was still driving his own vehicle! My husband thanked him for his service to our country and then we both chatted with him on a variety of topics - it truly made my day to meet someone from the Greatest Generation! I hope you all have a chance to chat with someone from the Greatest Generation, if you don't know anyone, please seek them out at Veteran's homes and retirement homes - you'll be rewarded beyond words. Until then . . .

Fresh paint on the trim
Today my brother Paul is setting up his equipment to paint the trim on the cottage! Yeah, it should look great. I like to paint, but I draw the line at 3 feet, therefore I'm never higher than the second step on a step ladder! As I type this post I'm looking out the window at my brother Pat (who owns the cottage next door), I can tell he's getting ready to supervise Paul! My husband is pointing (what he does best) to what he'd like Paul to focus on! The testosterone in the driveway is building!!! LOL!!! Should be a fun weekend!

Fresh Blueberries
My wonderful neighbor just delivered 10 pounds of fresh picked (this morning) wild blueberries!!! Thank goodness! The berries are from Hancock County, Maine. Last year I bought 40 lbs. of blueberries and I have about enough left for two pies!!! Yeah! I can start baking muffins etc.! My favorite recipe is a Williams-Somoma recipe. I'll post it when I can figure out how to add a recipe button to this blog!

Clean up
Well the last of my VIP's left @ 2:00 :-( Now, it's me, the hubby, and our adorable cockapoo Duke! It's going to take a few hours to scrub down the place and get it back in tip-top shape! The kids had a great morning, starting with a game of scrabble, talk about some brain stimulation! They promptly hit the beach around 10:00 a.m. and returned around 1:30, had a snack and hit the road for 2:00 p.m. Can't wait to see them on Labor Day weekend!

Sea Shore
This weekend my husband and I hosted our 4 nieces, 1 nephew and 2 boyfriends! We had a blast! I can't imagine what it was like for my mom having 7 children all close in age! She is a saint! I no sooner finished cleaning up from a breakfast of pancakes, some with blueberries and slab bacon and they were back from the beach looking for lunch!!! LOL, I told them that I was off duty and they were on their own. They are more than capable, they are 2 @ 19, 22, 18, 2 @ 20 & 16. LOVE 'EM, love 'em, love 'em!

Fresh Air!
We arrived last night after a 2 hr. drive. It felt wonderful to wake up in the fresh country air this a.m. Took a good look at my garden this a.m. and it needs work! It's been so hot on the East Coast that the flowers have been frying! I plan on getting out there this afternoon and having a chat with them - LOL!!!
